About "IKI"

We call ourselves "iki" which is a word we use for the burst of force caused by the hitting of a drum.

We made our stage debut in New York city in 2002. In the midst of raised security we went to Manhattan to perform at a memorial concert held in honor of the victims of the terror attacks.
From there we have worked in various genres of music with several famous Japanese musicians including "Boowy" Drum (Makoto Takahashi) and "off course" Drum (Jiro Oma) and "Hound dog" Keybord (Hitoshi Minowa).

We also collaborated with others to form a group we called "Uzu." That unit consisted of a shamisen, Japanese drums and rock and roll.
Another conceptual project we worked on displayed women's marital arts set to our drums.

The excellent member of "IKI" plays an active part as the center of the special unit such as "Ka-Cho-Fu-Getsu","Yakara","Sen-Rai","M's Japan Orchestra".

For Tokyo Disneyland's New Year's Eve countdown in 2005 we performed live for about 10,000 people on the "IKSPIARI"Stage with a DJ.
That performance was broadcast live on the radio.

That same year we were featured at an event sponsored by Sendai city.
The "History of the Earth" festival was held in honor of the Traditional Dance of "Nameshida Onikenbai".

We and the dancers were given the highest honors. In 2006 we were invited to the Bali Art Festival in Indonesia. We formed a unit called the "M's Japan Orchestra" for that show.
That same unit has perform several times in Japan.

The friendship beyond a border

IKI is active in the foothold in Misato-town.
The Misato-town and State of Minnesota Winona city are sister cities.
Therefore IKI carries out a concert and a workshop every year for a visit corps to come from Winona.
