Tribe Beat"Yakara"Something is set.Something is done next.−Yakara− Started in 2008, the group "Yakara" is composed of four takio and shamisen players from "SEN-RAI". However, this ensemble plays taiko exclusively. The characteristic of "Yakara" is not so much to perform in a strict unison style as occurs in a large-group taiko format, but to draw on individual player's talents and play together by drawing on each other's strengths, resulting in a tight ensemble style. They play in such places as nightclubs and school Art Appreciation classes. In this ensemble format, the taiko drum is played in many different contexts and in collaboration with artists of various genres. These factors change and influence the concept and playing of the traditional taiko drum. "Yakara" was formed in March 2008 as a result of the chance of "SEN-RAI" performers to take part in a concert by the tsugaru shamisen rock band "Hibikimerowo" The next month "Yakara" performed live in Tokyo with tsugaru shamisen player "Sho Asano" as a guest performer, and in June participated in the new Tohoku summer festival "Wood Vibration 2008." They not only performed as "Yakara", but also supported female funk band "Zukunasi" a group that performed at the internationally-renowned Fuji Rock festival. It goes without saying that "Yakara"'s strengths have emerged from the members' involvement with both "SEN-RAI" and "M 's Japan Orchestra". At present, invitations flood in from event organizers and instutions who wish to host performances by "Yakara", and their media profile cotninues to grow. OFEICIAL WEB |
