Dedicate a Tribute for American Cancer Society’s Tributes at Twilight: A Visual Driving Experience

As part of the Browns’ Crucial Catch initiative, join us for this year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer: Tributes at Twilight, a visual driving experience in partnership with the American Cancer Society.

Cancer doesn’t stop, so neither do we. Although we are living in a COVID world, it’s still important that we continue the fight against cancer every day. The impact of the pandemic will reduce the ability to fund cancer research by 50% in 2020 – the Society’s lowest investment this century if current trends continue. That is why on Saturday, October 17th from 6:30 – 8:00p.m. at FirstEnergy stadium, the Browns and the American Cancer Society will be hosting a drive-thru Tribute Garden where we will be showcasing Luminaria bags while staying socially distant and safe in cars. The experience will begin at the University Hospital Gate and feature a large, light-up pink chair.

The Tribute Garden will showcase pink and gold bags in support, in honor, or in memory of people’s loved ones who have been affected by cancer. All bags will be displayed and lit during the drive-thru experience. If you would like to dedicate a tribute, you can purchase one here for a donation of $10 or $25.

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer movement raises awareness and funds to end breast cancer and ensures that no one faces this disease alone.

In honor of the event, FirstEnergy Stadium, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and Terminal Tower will all be lit pink. We invite you to get in your car and drive down to the stadium on October 17 to experience this can’t miss drive-thru event!

If you attend, share your experience with us by using #give10 and tagging @BrownsGiveBack on social media!

Arkansas Department of Transportation, NIC Arkansas Earn Government Experience Award

IDrive Arkansas recognized for leveraging innovative IT to enhance services and citizen experience

The Center for Digital Government (CDG) awarded the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) a State Project Experience Award for its IDrive Arkansas platform. The IDrive Arkansas platform was developed in partnership with the Information Network of Arkansas (INA) and NIC Arkansas.

ARDOT was one of 10 national winners and was recognized for using the web to radically improve the government experience while innovating how services are delivered.

“We are honored to be recognized for enhancing the citizen travel experience across the state,” said Denise Powell, Digital Content Coordinator for ARDOT. “By allowing Arkansas motorists to view real-time road and weather conditions from any device, IDrive makes it possible to plan safer travel routes and potentially reduce traffic jams, vehicle accidents, injuries and deaths on Arkansas roadways.”

As the first interactive travel map in the state, IDrive Arkansas pulls together current highway construction zones, live traffic conditions, weather radars, locations of welcome centers and rest stops, and other critical travel information into a dynamic, responsive website and mobile app. Behind the scenes, ARDOT’s Construction and Travel Information System (ACTIS) powers a robust cross-agency communication hub allowing multiple state, county and city organizations to collaborate in real time.

IDriveArkansas.com and its mobile app are hosted in the Amazon Web Services cloud, providing accessibility, reliability and scalability to over 1 million users per year.

The Government Experience Awards recognize the achievements and best practices of states, cities and counties that excel at creating useful online government services and applications. The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and sets the standard for measuring best practices in state and local government.

State of South Carolina Places in Top 5 of Government Experience Awards

State recognized for two new chatbots and COVID-19 response website

The Center for Digital Government awarded the State of South Carolina fifth place in the overall state category of the 2020 Government Experience Awards.

South Carolina, which partners with digital government solutions firm NIC South Carolina, located in Columbia, was honored for recent improvements to the sc.gov digital government platform, introducing the state’s first chatbot, Caroline, and launching accelerateSC, a one-stop COVID-19 recovery tool with its own chatbot, Axel.

Accessible from SC.gov and on citizens’ mobile devices, Caroline assists users in finding a variety of information instantly, ranging from renewing a license, paying a traffic ticket or contacting their legislature. Since her debut in January 2020, Caroline has helped multiple concurrent users at once and answered over 17,000 questions.

The accelerateSC website was developed at the request of South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster in collaboration with the Department of Administration to quickly direct people to trending topics and information related to the State’s COVID-19 response and revitalization efforts. A chatbot named Axel was added to the website in June 2020. Axel has 136 questions and answers. Since launch, Axel has had 1,147 conversations with 3,572 questions answered.

“We are so proud of our longtime partners in the state of South Carolina for this exciting and well-deserved achievement,” said Corinne Holland, General Manager of NIC South Carolina. “The two chatbots, Caroline and Axel, and our COVID-19 solution, accelerateSC, are incredible digital tools. We look forward to partnering with South Carolina to continue developing innovative solutions connecting citizens and businesses to the governments that serve them.”
